Measuring for a dog collar is easy!
If you aren't sure what size collar you need, use a soft tape measure (tailor's tape measure) or if you don't have one, you can use a piece of string or ribbon, mark the measurement around the neck and then measure the string from the end.
For a Martingale Collar, the most important measurements are around the largest part of the head and around the neck right behind the ears. This is because the martingale needs to be able to slip over the head (so it needs to adjust large enough to go over the head) but in order for it to work properly, you need to be able to adjust it small enough so that it can't slip over the ears.
For a Buckle Dog Collar or Buckle Martingale (combo) Collar, you will need the largest measurement.
Choose the smallest size that will fit the dog. If the dog has a 15 inch neck, choose Medium (not large). |
